Five years ago, when I was selected as a AAAS IF/THEN Ambassador, I could have never guessed how many unbelievable opportunities would follow. I got to meet the most inspiring group of women, create a video game, be on a television show, speak at Comic-Con, and be featured in museums across the country - to name a few. I had the pleasure of attending the #YOUBELONGINSTEM convening put on by the U.S. Department of Education Friday in the The White House which kicked of the #NationalSTEMFestival. Such a great event, Ashley Huderson, Ph.D, MBA, Mekka Smith and rest of the staff did an excellent job! Thank you for the invite 😊 It was great hearing from Deputy Secretary of Education Cindy Marten and US Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. The students stole the show explaining their projects for the National STEM Festival. Thank you to the EXPLR co-founders Kari Byron and Jenny Buccos for your leadership. It was great catching up with my fellow IF/THEN Ambassadors Adrienne Starks, Ph.D. and Yamilee Toussaint. Yamilee did a great job as the MC! Hannah Cottrell reports for breakingnews.ie, "TikTok will launch a new dedicated science, technology, engineering and mathematics [#STEM] feed in a move which creators hope will “inspire” young people to “project themselves into different careers”." The feed will be available to UK and Ireland users. Cottrell also shares: "According to TikTok, almost 15 million Stem-related videos have been published globally in the last three years, with some creators gaining large followings from users who are interested in pursuing careers in the industry or finding out more information."
